Why I wish to Blog about Adoption

I was adopted at the age of 6. I have 3 siblings who were also adopted with me into the same home. My adoptive parents already had two children of their own. Throughout my life I had often wondered what the “adoption experience” was like for people like me. I also began to think about the parents who adopt children and what their experience was like. I wanted to know why they adopted, what their fears and challenges were. I realized at some point in my life that, like all human interactions, there are always two sets of experiences that shape our ideological views.

Because I believe it is important to consider all experiences to gain a complete understanding. I am creating this blog as a place where all participants in the adoption process can share their experiences. This would include: adoptees, adoptive parents and their own birth children, birth parents, all extended family members, and even social workers involved in the process of setting up adoption.

This is an opportunity to share all our experiences, good or bad, but I would encourage all participants to remain objective and honest. The desired outcome is to learn, grow, support, and understand together. I believe sharing our experiences on an open forum will allow others to be better informed and/or supported. So let us share, vent, encourage, and support one another.

I need to add that I am new to blogging. Please be patient while I learn, and if you have any blogging advice, please feel free to share.

Thank you for sharing.
